JxPhreeze: From The Brem
A music video at city scale in Bremerton, Washington: the mayor on camera, thirteen sponsors, a production trailer.
Bremerton natives: director, DP, artist
mayor on camera
local businesses on the sponsor card
The work
“From The Brem” is a hometown film in the most literal sense: director Skyler Mullins, DP and editor Steffan Collins, and the artist JxPhreeze are all from Bremerton. The song is about home, and when the three of them went back to make it, the city turned out.
Mayor Greg Wheeler appears in it, so do local fixtures including the Bremerton Ninja, Studio K Pole and the Low II Show low-rider club, and thirteen local businesses put their names on the sponsor card. Streets closed, residents showed up, and a whole town put itself on camera for one music video.
The behind-the-scenes film tells the story from the inside: how a city gets organized for a shoot by the people who grew up in it. That kind of pull cannot be rented, in Washington or anywhere else.
